The Design Process

Every object starts on paper

Each KIYOMA piece begins as a hand-drawn sketch, where proportion, form, and purpose are resolved before a single cut is made. Only when every detail is considered does the stone take shape. The result is an object with nothing added and nothing left to question.

Stone & Craft

Stone in its most natural form.

Every KIYOMA object begins as a raw block of natural stone, selected for its structure, tone, and character. Skilled hands shape each piece, allowing the natural veining, depth, and surface of the material to remain fully intact. What you receive is not a manufactured product. It is a direct expression of the stone itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. KIYOMA products are handcrafted from genuine natural marble or travertine sourced from renowned stone-producing regions in Italy, Turkey, Spain, India and China. We do not use marble-effect resin or printed imitation stone.

  • Not exactly—and that is what makes it yours. Natural variations in veining, colour, texture and mineral markings mean every piece is unique. Your product will have the same stone type, shape and dimensions shown, but its pattern will never be an exact copy.

  • No. For everyday care, simply wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth and dry it afterward. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners such as vinegar, lemon, bleach and scouring powders, as these can affect the natural finish.

  • Marble is durable, but like every natural material, it is not indestructible. Wiping away spills promptly, avoiding acidic liquids and lifting objects instead of dragging them will help preserve the surface. Small changes that develop through use are a natural part of living with real stone.

  • Yes. Many KIYOMA pieces are designed for everyday use in bathrooms and kitchens, including trays, soap dispensers, soap dishes, bowls and organizers. Always follow the intended use and care instructions listed on the individual product page.

  • Occasional contact with water is normal for products designed for bathrooms, kitchens or floral use. However, natural stone should not remain wet unnecessarily. Wipe away standing water and allow the piece to dry completely. For vases and wine coolers, follow the product-specific instructions.

  • Yes. Natural stone has been used in interiors for centuries because of its strength and longevity. KIYOMA pieces are made for daily use and designed to remain in your home for years. Because stone can chip if dropped or struck against a hard surface, it should still be handled with care.

  • Stone is naturally solid and heavy, which gives each KIYOMA piece its reassuring stability. On delicate wood, lacquer, glass or polished surfaces, we recommend using a discreet protective mat and lifting the product rather than sliding it.

  • Marble and travertine are formed by geological processes over millions of years. Differences in minerals, pressure and location create each stone’s distinctive colour, veining and texture. These variations are evidence that the material is genuine—not manufacturing defects.

  • A genuine stone object has a weight, depth and individuality that imitation materials cannot reproduce. Every KIYOMA piece is handcrafted to combine a restrained form with the natural character of the stone—creating an object intended to be used, noticed and kept.
